The Good, The Bad, But it Gets Better
Before I met you, I didn't know the meaning of love,
I had been through relationships that are rather hard to speak of,
The first was kind and seemed full of bliss,
But if you didn't pay attention there was much that could be missed.
They never called, or wrote, or texted,
And I had thought my love was being tested.
Because at first everything was sweet, and loving, and kind,
But as time wore on, your interest in me began to decline,
Because as days turned to weeks, and weeks turned to months, it became clear,
That our relationship was doomed because you weren't near.
But you kept me hooked, though you wasted my time.
Your negligence, though it wasn't a crime,
Left me broken and lonely,
If only it was better, if only, if only....
The Second was not as good as the first,
In fact, it was obvious that it was much worse.
You asked me for "pictures", and "favors", that I would decline,
But you were persistent for this body of mine,
You wouldn't let it go, and pushed me to send "pics"
You said if I didn't there'd be other chicks.
Of course I was stupid, because I thought I was in love,
And I slowly began to do anything you asked of.
But when I would ask for affection in exchange,
You began to act different and strange.
You eventually dumped me because I was "controlling",
And you left me alone, full of self-loathing...
But then I met you, I guess third times the charm,
As you promised to love me, and protect me from harm.
You are understanding, loving, and caring,
Not once have you ever been cruel or demanding.
We talk everything out, we care, and we trust,
Now my heart is so full of love for you I swear it could bust.
And now we've been together for over four years,
And that makes me smile from ear to ear.
I guess you could say there's a moral to this,
That not every relationship is full of bliss,
There's some good, and some bad you must weather,
But take it from me, it does get better.
