Goodbye

When he got the news that June

All he could think was this is too soon

He had his bags packed

He was leaving for Iraq

For those who cared

They were all there

He stood there saying goodbye

To his loving new wife

By the end of each day in Iraq

His face had become all black

He wished he could be at home

With his wife who was all alone

Each night she prayed to the lord

‘Till she got a knock at the door

When the man spoke

In an instant her heart broke

He was buried later that year

Each day she shed a tear

Then she said goodbye

And Took her own life
