Goodbye

The past six months have been like a snap
No one knows how the next six months will tick
But I can tell you this
Right now
Is a slap
Headed to prom, it doesn’t matter who’s mad at me
Your last night, I want you to have fun
In the back of our heads, a constant reminder
Our goodbye is drawing nearer and nearer
But we push that aside in favor of laughs and good times
In flavors of ice cream, jokes, and memories
You, in your onesie and dress
Me, in my cut off and vest
Suddenly, the scene changes
In the car
At your house
My heart, it drops
Goodbye is here
Arms and tears and shivers and I love yous
Suddenly, it doesn’t matter I didn’t tell you how much I care with my words
Because it was obvious through the hugs and tears and I love yous
You know I care because of the stars that I bottled for you
So no
I didn’t tell you
You didn’t tell me
We didn’t have to
We knew
And then it hits me
This isn’t goodbye
It’s see you later
