Goodbye
Dear Cody,
I'm not sure where to start,
What words that I want to tell you.
Last I saw you,
I was so broken.
I thought it was all disappearing.
But now, I see
I was wrong.
I was wrong to hold you
On that pedestal so high up.
I was wrong to change myself
To fit your interests.
I was wrong to turn a blind eye
To all that you'd done wrong.
I was wrong to say
It was all my fault.
But I'll still wonder.
I'll wonder if you'll remember me
As years continue to pass us by.
I'll wonder how you've changed
After we parted ways.
I'll wonder if you ever
truly liked me back then.
I can't bring it in myself
To hate you for what you've done.
I don't think you ever realized
the impact this had on me.
How this left me
with scars littering my heart.
I'm healing now.
It's a long, painful process you see.
To tell myself I made the right decision.
That I wasn't wrong.
But I have hope.
That one day
I can love again.
I've met new people here.
They all support me
The way you never did.
It's hard to open myself up
And talk about what happened.
But they're willing to wait for me
And give me the time I need.
I'm thankful to you.
For letting me learn more
About myself.
But now I think
I need to let you go.
I wish you the best
In your future.
Your friend,
Leilani
