Goodbye

GOODBYE

Your suitcase is standing by the door
Is it your way of saying this is the end?
That you feel you can’t love me anymore?
But then I never did intend,
To make you stay, if you were unsure,
That we could not go on as before.

There’s a letter on the kitchen table,
With my name written on it, in big letters.
I didn’t miss it deliberately, but was unable,
To read what I know, is for the best,
For us both – no use living a lie,
It's time for you to say goodbye.

(with love from your mother)
