Goodbye
No one likes to say goodbye.
At least we can say that we've tried.
Soft whispers of sweet nothings, hiding behind lies.
Our hearts are broken, our souls have died.
At least we can say that we've tried.
Missing I love you's, blank stares, watery eyes.
Sending shivers down my spine.
False memories of gentle touches that have not yet arrived.
At least we can say that we've tried.
Days and weeks and months go by.
Silence fills the spaces that were once you and I.
I can not, will not assist you in my demise.
At least we can say that we've tried.
Hold me, touch me, so that I can spread my wings and fly.
I know now that we are bound by love for the rest of our lives.
Perhaps this will not be goodbye.
And...
At lease we can say that we've tried.
