Goodbye

I hear the creaking of the door

As you leave one final time

This is too painful to bear

So I squeeze my eyes shut tight

In our final moments

I can barely say goodbye

What is there left for me to say

We must go our separate ways

I know that you’ll wake up

And one day realize your mistake

You said you’d never hurt me

But I’ve never felt this pain

I feel the tears

Trickling down

Following me

As I hit the ground

I cry out loud and my heart mourns, too...

The loss of the piece

That I gave to you

You took it and ran

And you didn’t look back

Was it really that easy

To leave me this fast?

You say you still want to be friends

Is that how this whole story ends?

All the love I gave to you

Stomped on by your very shoes

Smushed until it disappears

Evaporates like all my tears

You never loved me

Because if you did

I would have known

And cherished it

The door is closed

And you are far

Now I know

What the dangers are

Falling for a guy

Who has no heart
