Goodbye

There I crouched,

huddled in a ball,

doing my best to drown

out the ensuing shouts.

My heart broken,

my once secure family shattered.

A victim of statistics

is what I’ve become.

Goodbye tears, goodbye pain.

I do all I can

to leave behind my past.

Let me find my own wings!

My old me you’ll never again see.

So you hurt me once,

but not again.

You dealt me a Judas kiss,

you won’t count it twice.

Goodbye tears, goodbye pain.

Goodbye love, goodbye shame.
