'goodbye'
she was a wandering soul that night,
nobody could reach her. find her. help her.
she didn’t know if she wanted them too.
the past had been haunting her.
slowly creeping closer,
and it had almost caught up.
she walked into the darkness,
the danger made her feel safe.
her clothes were damp,
a mix of her tears and the rain.
it couldn’t get any worse.
but when would it get better?
‘some time alone might help’
she felt more lonely than ever.
her body ached for his touch,
her heart for his love.
she remembered their life together,
how much she had lost.
she nipped to the shop,
composed herself with a fake smile.
‘2 pack’s of your finest please’,
she had pain only medication could fix.
she continued to walk through the streets,
each shop she came across,
her performance was repeated.
something inside her whispered,
‘go on, do it’.
alone on a field she rung him,
one last ‘goodbye’
he seemed to finally care,
she promised not to die.
a month on, she knows all his lies,
a blade in her hand,
she cries and cries.
the memories are haunting her,
she’s struggling to decide.
is a life without love enough
for her to feel alive?
she feels the metal push against her wrist,
how did she get to this?
he broke her. used her. left her.
she wasn’t someone anyone would miss.
