Goodbye for now

Dear Mom,

I trusted you to believe in me and I trusted you to always care for me

I trusted you to be a mom

You said words that cut deep and I can’t forgive you

I will always love you and care for you that will never change

But I will never have it in me to forget everything you’ve ever told me

You don’t believe in me to follow through with my major and you don’t believe I can do anything by myself

I hear that you have the most faith in me, more than my other three siblings but you don’t show it

I gave you back the ring you bought me in high school

You doubted I’d graduate from high school and now you doubt I’ll follow through with college

That ring was a promise that you’d believe in me, always

That ring was a promise I’d always follow through with college and university

I kept my promise but you didn’t keep yours, so I gave it back to you

If I made you cry or if I hurt you, I apologize

I can’t even bare with the pain I’ve caused

But, I can’t bare with the pain you’ve caused me

Out of your four children I’m the only one who hasn’t given up on you

I still need to believe that’ll you’ll always be there for me

I can’t keep feeling like I’m not good enough

I know my worth but I’m not sure you do

For this I have to say goodbye,

We live in the same house but I need time for myself

I’ll always be there for you, even if you haven’t been there for me one-hundred percent of the time

I’ll always love you and you’ll always be my mom and I’ll always be your little tesoro

I hope someday I can look back at this poem and laugh because we got through this and love prevailed
