"This Is Goodbye, Then?"

Dear my good friend,

I can hear your body-shaking sobs every night.

I can see the bags beneath your eyes,

and I can feel the rainstorm howling in your mind.

You're with another, you held me dear,

and you always knew me better than any other

but I can no longer hold this anchor.

Every night and every morning, I used to

think about nothing but you.

Your voice and face burned into my subconscious

like a brand.

I knew what your mind looked like

even when you didn't tell me,

and you tipped the iceberg into the cold

of my Id.

But nowdays you're with another, you once held me dear,

and you knew me better than any other (for now)

but I'm finding fewer reasons to

hold onto this anchor.
