Goodbye was too easy
Dear Mother,
Sometimes in my head I ask you why.
You reply with “I’m sorry”.
Sorry for you,
or sorry for the tears in my eyes.
You can not run away from what you made.
But you ran like the soles of your feet would catch fire on the ground.
Like I hurt you and not the other way around.
Now I hurt with no pain but anger and question.
because not only did you give me away,
You neglected to stay or say,
Why.
Your goodbye was too easy.
You see,
I didn’t ask to be here,
Only to be loved and protected.
Even 18 years later when the conversation strikes,
you stand at the starting like,
with your feet in the blocks,
ready to run from me,
like I have a disease.
But while you were gone,
I learned one thing.
My goodbye was too easy.
Sincerely, Yours
