Goodbye, You

I never knew how hard it was

To finally say goodbye

All the memories of you

Will never leave my mind

When times were still young

Oh the things that you had done

I never knew it would go so fast

But I guess you were never meant to last

The things I do now

It’s not like taking a bow

way back on the stage

now it is just one big cage

The spotlight of childhood

Is replaced by hard floor wood

Not easy to break

Impossible to replace

Who knew that things

from before would seem

So small, happy and free

Is now all a dream to me

I have entered a new world

Unlike the one you had made

I’ve walked through a door

That you yourself had laid

I thank you much, childhood me

For becoming what I now see

A strong, hopeful, good, beautiful girl

That you used to always decorate with curls

I’ll never forget the lessons you learned

The teachings that you had burned

Straight into my head

As if it were new meds

Childhood, you are the reason

I am still living through the season

So I say one more time

Thank you for being mine
