Goodbyes

It wasn’t predictable

I didn’t know things would happen this way

Orange, red, yellow hues swirling as time stopped

The fall day gasping a breath of air

Holding the buzzing insects at bay in its stomach

The crisp taste of rain in its mouth

Absolutely nothing in its head

How could I say anything?

An empty park in the dead of winter

The sunlight kissing the blossoms of spring

Bright fireworks in the heat of summer

Take my whole life away darling

A thief of something carnal within me from the moment our eyes met

I see the life we could have had unfold before us

The pain was worth it

I see the world lose its vigor around you

Take in the beauty you deserve

The cold, the heat, the love, the life

Birth of something cosmic between us

Hello there

It’s so very nice to meet you

I’m so happy you came into this world

So that we could meet in the fall breeze

Orange, red, yellow hues swirling around us as time continues without me

I let out a breath of air

My butterflies in my stomach climbing out of my throat

The rain clearing away on my tongue

And my reason returning to my skull

How could I not love you?

I imagined you so beautiful surround by ice in the winter

Amidst the sun and flowers of spring

The air melting around you in the summer

May you be the most beloved thief they’ve ever met

It’s so very great to finally meet you

I hope you enjoy your time on this Earth

You were only 5 pounds, 11 ounces

And I already see the life this world owes you unfolding before you

Take my life away darling

I hope you do terrible, fantastic, beautiful things with it

Nobody knew things would go this way

Time ticked on, leaving behind only me and my droning red line

I let out my gasp of air for the last time

The butterflies having long left my body

The sky clear in spite of last night’s rain

I find peace in the emptiness of my head

How could I not love you?

The 9 months you told me you loved me

And I couldn’t say it back

Your eyes are so full of wonder

Hello there

How amazing it was to finally meet you
