Goodnight.

I help it along, of course. I help the necrosis spread, this hand of mine, so wet, so alienated. Someone else’s hand. Not mine. My hand. With the sound of a small squelch, I feel my thumbs press deeper into its black, slimy exterior, and knead my rotting flesh like dough, until there’s a soft, wet pop, a bundle of fat larvae bursting under my skin, and I rub a layer of their greasy, digested remnants, the grey paste of my bones’ marrow, onto my palm. I rip back the fleshy layers until I feel, against my fingers, the rough surface of bone. Goodnight, little one.
