Goodnight Poem
The sun slips down its blackened tomb
and lends white light to a crescent moon.
The willows wave their brisk adieus
and bend to tie their rooted shoes.
The stars peek out their tired eyes
and huff and puff their weary sighs.
They watch these mortals as they sleep
lest they forget to dream.
