got lost

he woke up at four in the morning

every single day.

he cooked his lunch, packed it,

and added a coors to top it off.

he went off to work

to pick peaches.

at the very least,

i think they were peaches.

he kept his money hidden

in foil.

he kept his heart hidden

under bottled gold

and dry dirt.

a call was made.

a call was hung up.

he drank.

he ate.

he watched t.v.

and didn't go to work.

he sold his things,

and got lost.
