Graduating

Walking across the stage

each step easier than the last

reaching for the diploma

that represents the past

accomplishments, decisions, made

then, now, and never, right?

we prepared for four years

for this moment to pass

every opportunity gone

if it wasn't filled out by December

so does this diploma

represent the future

or will we remember

the opportunity that was lost

from vacant applications

past regrets, future decisions,

it is done now, no time for revisions

because my name is already on the diploma.
