Graduation

It's almost time to walk across the stage

After thirteen years of school and stress

Our lives flip like the turning of a page

Hopes and dreams loom, nothing more nothing less

It started with recess and daily nap time

Shaving cream on desks and field trips monthly

When not sharing snacks was seen as a crime

And your imagination could run free

But numbers got bigger and so did you

Words became more painful than sticks and stones

Rumors were almost always never true

Your first loves broke your heart and a few bones

So when the caps fly and the tears have dried

Remember it's just the start of the ride
