Graduation (This Is It)
This is it.
Everything you've ever tried to do,
everything you've ever tried to be,
everything you've ever tried to understand,
it all culminates to this.
This is it.
No matter what kind of a life you've lived,
no matter how many people's lives you haven't changed,
no matter how many terrible secrets you hold in that torn vessel that is your body,
This is it.
The atmosphere here is charged with excitement and dread.
The people that sit next to you, friends, classmates, acquaintances,
all lives changed by a single piece of cream-colored parchment.
This is it.
Your name is finally called upon.
You rise out of your seat and leave behind your childhood,
crossing the threshold into an entirely new life.
This is it.
