A Grain of Sand

The sand whispers

As it falls from sun sticky skin

Back through shadow

Into anomanimity

"Shhhhhhh" it says

Each grain as solid

as the wall I built to block my tears

Each handful as fluid

as that wall crumbles

Inevitably.

What a shameless sensation

Sitting there on the beach.

Warmth parading through sunbeams

Dancing with my cells

My gaze directed at the abyss of sandy whitness

That once formed a solid rock

My thoughts directed at the abyss of nothingness

That envelops me

Allowing

A moment of peace.

I risk the thought of thinking and

Momentarily suspect

I had not been breathing

But

Eventually

Find I am

Indeed

Alive

And but a grain of sand,

Allowing

Everything

A moment of contemplation.
