Grains of Time

The drip of the faucet

dink, dink

or is it the rain falling

off the roof at night?

The knife hits the wine glass

chink, chink

before knocking it over

a red stain on the lace.

The piano notes resonate

plink, plink

The Graduation March, Here Comes the Bride,

and one last Amazing Grace.

The sand hits the bottom of the hourglass,

bink, bink

to let you know the grains of time,

have finally run out.
