The Grand Scheme of Things
My little sister came along at three,
My little brother at seven,
I'm the oldest.
Doesn't sound so bad until you step back and see the responsiblity.
My childhood was filled with making dinner and focusing on school,
but the summers were filled with endless playtime and ice cream.
Middle school came fast,
so did the sadness.
I struggled to keep myself happy.
Freshman year came and went,
the sadness was there, but less prominent.
Sophmore year was rough,
but I worked on myself.
By Junior year I was happier, and filled with less and less anxiety as second semester hurriedly came and went.
Senior year came,
I was enrolled in a CNA based program.
I wasn't afriad of the world anymore.
I wasn't sad all the time anymore.
I became comfortable in my own skin.
Now I have graduated.
Many tears were shed, but I am ready to move on, to lead, to be the best version of myself.
In the grand scheme of things I found my faith, and my voice,
but most importantly,
I found myself.
