Grandfather
The year was 1991
You just turned 69
My second birthday
was mere days away
It was 1991
when you robbed me
when you stole my innocence
when you stole my youth
I wasn’t even two yet
I wasn’t even aware yet
I didn’t know what it was yet
I trusted you
You stole my innocence that day
when you pulled up my dress
and pulled down my panty
when you touched me
Your role was to protect
Your role was to nurture
Your role was one of love and care
And yet you chose an alternative role
That dreadful day in 1991
The start of years of touching
your hands, your mouth
assaulting my innocent body
It’s 2018 now,
It’s been years since you died
Yet I shudder, thinking of your dirty acts
Wishing I could delete each memory
It’s 2018, 2018
The year where I cut you off
The year where I take back
the years you have stolen from me
I cannot take you to a court of law
Your corpse will not stand trial
for the damage you have done
For the years you have robbed
A jail may not be your punishment
But rest assured
My God does not slumber
my God does not sleep
He saw your lewd acts
He saw the pain you have caused
my God is a loving God
He protects his children
He protects the innocent
from the evil one
Your time will come
His will, will be done
