Grandfather
I know we have never met face to face,
but I know you are resting in God’s grace.
The phone calls, full of laughter,
and the talks that last for hours.
We were separated by the Gulf of Mexico.
My love for you has always grown.
Ecclesiastes 7:1 says that “A good name is better than fine perfume, and the day of death is better than the day of birth.”
And grandfather, what a good name, you made for yourself on this earth.
Grandfather, you are in a better place now,
where there is no more pain or sorrow.
Heaven is your home now and not your morrow.
Once you were blind, but now you can see.
Once you were deaf, but now you can hear.
Once you were sick, but now you are healed.
I know you are looking down on me,
because you are at home and free.
I can’t wait to meet you in Heaven one day,
so I can finally see you face to face.
