Grandma

As time has passed upon reflection

Thinking back from whom I received direction

One person comes to mind quite clearly

Who has been my mentor and I hold dearly

Who by example and wisdom shared

Helped me make choices where I positively fared

With life experiences used to teach

That all was possible to achieve

There were no boundaries to what we could discuss

All issues handled with the utmost trust

She’s authentic, honest and true

and it may seem quite odd to you

My mentor has been none other than

my very own and highly valued grandmother.
