Grandmother

Forced to stand tall

I was fearful of the fall

I tried to be brave

Like a strong ocean wave

Knowing I would never see her again

I never knew when,

The day she would take her last breath

The final sign of death.

She was the queen of our household

Many stories would be left untold.

She taught me to be proud,

Never too loud.

Vocal yet polite,

Never get yourself in a fight.

Wear your heart on your sleeve,

It was all so easy to believe.

She will forever be in my heart

I will never rip apart

The memories of her and I,

Always wondering why

She left so soon from my life

Our last conversation a strife.

However there is no other,

That could ever inspire me more than my grandmother.
