Grandpa's Little Rose

Your hands wrapped around mine

You look at me and say you are mine, my rose.

I ask him why am I a rose, don't they have thorns on their stem.

I look down at my arms and legs seeing none to be found.

He chuckles a little and holds me tight

Looks at me and says if you are to be anything in life be a rose

Lift your petals high above, touch the sky with your love.

Show the world your pure beauty, always reconnect with your roots.

This world can be dark and cruel

But you need to be the light of the world don't you see.

Listen here and listen well this is the reason rose's have thorns.

When the world around them goes their thorns protect them from the storm.

The world can never cut them down.

You are my rose.

Thank you Grandpa for this truth, I will always remember you.

I love being your little rose.
