Grandy

Her eyes lit up

As she discussed

What she had learned

Throughout her life.

She decided

To write it down

To share

With us later.

She seemed to tell us

“Ignore what society tells you,

Live for yourself.”

She certainly did.

She traveled.

She danced.

She laughed.

All of it was with us.

She painted with colors

As bright as she was.

She sang with tunes

As beautiful as her soul.

With a past like hers,

One would think

She may struggle.

But she had control.

Control of her own mind.

She relinquished

Her desire to comply

With what others wished.

She left a mark

On those she left behind.

We may have her story,

But I can only hope to obtain her spirit.
