Granny
Hey love,
I still see the life in you, sometimes I stare seeming a little star struck just looking through the windows of your soul. Your pupils still dilate when you smile and laugh about the life you once followed. The stories you tell almost seem too real to be true, buh they align perfectly with the history of time. I wish I were as grounded in my faith as you, how you can see so much hate yet love uncontrollably. You can't see much nowadays, so I just sit there in your presence and glimpse into your true self, still so independent. Sometimes your soul moves quicker than you can keep up with, and it's okay. You always look at peace in life, like you have not a care in the world. Tell me what I'm doing wrong in life. You never let age define you, and used every circumstance to your advantage. Took the good with the bad and made it better. I just wonder what you hold too, what keeps you pushing. You can't hear much anymore, buh still manage to catch every word I whisper. I hope you never feel like a burden in life, and realize you're a blessing. You don't get out much anymore, yet keep us on our toes, always making sure "we cross our t's and dot our i's." You never judge, buh hold nothing back, and your wisdoms seems abundant. I hope I live long enough to hear everything you have to offer. You struggle to keep up with "modern times" buh still mange to stay afloat. I worry about you a lot lately, probably more than I should. Funny how few gray hairs you carry, I can't seem to control mine. I envy you, how you radiate blessings. Please let me help you, never hesitate to call. I dread the day someone else calls on your behalf. Ache at the thought of you leaving us behind.
To my beloved Ida Mae
If only I could stop time.
