A Grasp on Our minds

Eyes open, Mind Blank, A silent mouth.

You awake from your slumber and check the clock. Eleven.

The rest of the family is sleeping,

And there is nothing else to do.

Empty minded, you drift from the comfort of your bed,

To the solace of your couch,

which sits behind the large black screen.

You simply stare into the plastic box in front of you,

As you get swept into its black hole.

You’re paralyzed and hypnotized,

Yet ignorant of it all.

You know once you start,

How hard it will be to stop.

But it’s got you in a headlock.

You can’t turn your attention away.

The urge is too strong.

Until your fingers have a mind of their own,

And they reach for the remote.

A new but softer pair of eyes open.

She feels for the body next to her,

Only to find nothing but blankets and pillows.

Something is inside her, automatic and uncontrollable.

She pulls the blanket off her,

And heads towards the living room.

No breakfast, and no water.

Nothing is more important than this;

To sit there with her husband

And be the good wife she is.

You both slave away,

With your brains wrapped in chains.

You are held captive, all day.

The pleasure is too strong,

Your minds are already plagued.

For you, it's too good to be wrong.
