Grateful Admist

Born from the womb of an addict, gifted to a single mother, I am grateful.

Mother had six kids, three of us whom were born from the womb of the addict & gifted to her.

Brother & sister both had the same father however, I did not.

After 16 years of curiousity, I finally met him.

I felt three emotions- happy, confused, and cursed.

My father was married & already had a family of his own.

But I am that reminder of the woman who birthed me; as welcoming as his family is of me-the questions are burning inside me-

He tells me his story but it's hard to make truth of it

Am I actually envied in the dark because I am the replica of him? No visitations?...I am just, clueless.

I am now 18 years old, graduated from high school, now a full-time college student.

Mother raised me, helped me reach my father, nursed me, continues to support me, and always tries to shield me from the pain of the world.

I am grateful to the mother whom I was gifted to.
