The Great Big Apple Tree
Dear Great Big Apple Tree,
It pulls in every direction
The force so powerful, but only one sided
Wishing it could disappear
But only gets stronger with thoughts
Time ticks away slowly,
as the apple grows in the fields of loving sorrow
The apple’s love for the tree
grows like weeds on a neglected tomb
Depending all its nutrients
From the tall narrow stump,
Slowly the branch begins to cave in
The weight of the apple has become too heavy to hold
The tree branch snaps unable to give
The crispy honey apple has no control
But knows it’s fate and gives into the demands
The apple smashes and breaks
Because it believed the tree could hold her this time.
Laying on the ground helpless
Begging for a bird to pick up her seeds
So this process wouldn’t reoccur
As the apple floats away in the white dove’s mouth
It realizes how small the tree was.
Finally, she thinks
“I won’t fall another moment into your gravity.”
Love, Apple Seed
