The Great Escape(s)
Escaping and evading
the thoughts that invade my mind.
Picking up a book, or a pen, or a pencil
and peace at mind is what I find.
Writing down words or creating pictures.
Dancing my problems away.
Acting like a whole different person.
No longer plagued by the thoughts of everday.
An escape from the real world.
An escape from time itself.
The world stands still
as I release myself.
My problems fade away,
no longer my main thought.
Instead I'm worried about getting the shade right
or releasing the words that once were caught.
Focused on the picture before me
or the words that are on my mind.
Getting my feelings out on paper
whether with words or lines.
But no length of words
nor the most beautiful of scenes
can truly help me escape
the thoughts that my day brings.
Caught in my own prison.
Trapped in my head.
No escaping myself.
Just gotta keep walking the road ahead.
Gotta keep on walking on
and gotta keep my head held high.
The day may bring the worst of the worsts,
but I always have that pencil and paper nearby.
Ready at a moment's notice.
Ready to aid in the escape.
Ready to let me get away
by letting out words or creating new shapes.
