Great Expectations

Dear Sister,

I know we never had a chance to meet and now I’m really wondering how different things would have been

Would you be the golden standard?

The one I have to live up to?

The one who I when I complained about school, they’ll say she went through it too.

Would I be a different person? The opposite of who I am?

These thoughts, constantly running through my head

When I sleep, go to school, or even play sports,

I think, What would you have done

It's almost like I’m living two lives

Mine and yours

Like water and fire

Like the sun and the moon

Like day and night

Polar opposites but somehow I manage

Or don’t

It gets overwhelming, living up to expectations that never existed

But when I struggle I remember, it's not just for me

I live two lives

Yours and mine

Like mac and cheese

Like pb and j

Like ketchup and mustard

Although we’re opposites

We compliment each other
