The Great Patriotic War

The red soldier watches the field, half asleep

A noise startles him. It sounds like vehicles!

Maybe headquarters is sending more troops on trucks.

What he saw, horrified him, For the trucks were not Soviet.

There were at least 4 german trucks loaded with troops headed for his position.

The last thing he heard was the sound of whistling, as a German artillery shell lands next to him

The great patriotic war has begun.
