Great Shadow
Oh God when I look for you all I find is footprints,
the shadow of where you once were,
I want to see your face and hear your voice,
I am not worthy to do either of those,
God clean me and erase my mistakes,
Like a chain on my leg there is no escape.
Take me to the river and clean my sins,
take me in your arms and protect me, my Father,
It hurts when I see your shadow,
It shows me that You are real, but I cannot see You.
When the songs play I sing, to you.
When I pray, I pray to you.
Not a shadow, not a figure, not a picture...You.
The world, it blinds my sight and deafens my ears,
Why can I not escape and go with you?
I feel that it would be so much easier, my Lord.
Help me and never leave my Great Shadow.
My Protector, even though I will never see you on this earth,
I will just see your shadow watching over me.
