A Greater Presence
I am the light that filters through the window,
on an early school morning.
Weaving and wrapping around the blinds meant
to forbid me from the plushy palace that is your bedroom.
I am the daydream that you ponder during your
oh-so-long history class, where your mind wanders,
as if it were a lost paint brush in a room full of empty canvases.
I am the sound of raindrops that rhythmically dance through your mind,
as you play notes that dance through the bell of your instrument
during music rehearsals.
I am the last thought before you drift into a heavy sleep at night,
only to meet me once more, in the early hours of the mornings.
I am an artistry so delicate that when people think of me,
they yearn and ache to feel my presence around them.
Comforting them.
I am something people refuse to believe in,
though I am everywhere.
I am love.
