Green

Green is spring time, Life returning to the otherwise dead and colorless world. It’s the end to the short, bitter days and the endless haze of greys and browns. Green is the little monster inside all of us, otherwise known as jealousy. It can cloud our judgement and make us act rashly. Green can close the shade on the joy around us or make us feel dead inside. Green is the decision I have to make, Either the Wilmington Quakers or the Ohio Bobcats. Green is my home for the next four years and wearing it with pride no matter what I choose. Green is wonderful and horrible. It’s life and death. It is happiness and depression. Green is life changing.

A poem we worked on for English class that I submitted for the scholarship contest.
