Green Tips

The tips of me are green

The edge of my fingernails and the

Last inch of my tongue-

A leafy, rich guacamole.

It stains everything I touch

And makes its way into everyone I know.

Until the tips of their ears

And the corners of their eyes

Are the same as mine-

Drowned in a color

Seething upon sight.

Their tongues rattle about me

And their listeners turn green.

They clench their hands,

Acidic green nails digging into palms.

Something new thrums

Beneath the skin.

The heart is black-

Mine, their’s, or both

I cannot tell.
