Grief

I wish I could say

I know the grief

I feel the grief

But I don’t

I was there

I was awake

But I was too young

Too young to remember

Before she could teach her child

The secrets she kept

On how to live in this world

To be hit with a train of grief

I want to feel the grief

That everyone knows but me

But how can I grieve

Over someone I never knew

Whom I’ll never know

No matter what she did for me

She is to whom I owe

All the gold I’ve received

yet i suffer

From the ability to feel

even a small portion

of the grief

that i should
