Grief is a Thief
Grief is a thief
Trying to steal my life
Not all at once
But inch by inch
Grief is a bully
Demanding I stay here
To make myself smaller
To give up control
Grief commands me
Roll up
Curl into a ball
Pull the covers over my head
Block out the light
Avoid the sun
And some days
It almost succeeds
Falling short
As I resist
Not because I am strong
Because I loved her so much
And grief,
For all its force,
Is no match
For a love that deep.
