Grieve, so that you can be free to fee

I stayed strong for the other part of me, the one that you refused to call my own
Now I'm broken on the ground and the part of me that I held out has retreated into my arms
I told myself, "If it makes you cry, then go ahead and cry and let them fall down child"
I was hurt when you threw them to the floor from the stairs, and from the floor to my knees
From binding my hands to fixing myself, I couldn't fight you anymore without crying
Even when I was away, I knew that I still loved you, but those wounds reminded me in the saltwater
I stayed there for as long as I could, and coming back I tried to flee that damn black hole
Shaking at night, that I would never be the same again, but who was I even trying to be
Even when I was alone, I still had it, my courage that would always be there for me
With all the voices and thoughts that rip through my mind, all I could do was sing
But that wasn't enough, so I sang, so I wrote, so I cried, and so I loved because even if
My heart breaks, it isn't all that bad, because then you can see all the love that I held inside
