Grit

I’ve been taught many times the power of grit

To hold my ground and never quit

The weight of the world killing me

Trying to force me to agree

But all around me

Men are dying, women crying

I look away, I must keep trying

Fortifying, Death defying

Until my life seems satisfying

And as the storm pressures me to quit

I stand tall, feet planted, and grit
