Grounded
That time of the day you may behold,
When nothing brings a feeling of concern.
Your mother gets mad and gives you a scold:
“Young lady, when will you grow up and learn?!”
You walk into your room without a bark,
keeping down your head to avoid a stare.
A tucked tail between your legs in the dark,
“I did not do anything! I swear!”
You start to count the dots on the ceiling:
One, two… five… twelve, the world spins with no end,
Your mother left a scar with no healing.
Time is ticking and you realize you’ll have to mend
The bridge of love you destroyed with hate
“Mother, I did not mean to irritate.”
