grow
I was presented with an opportunity and it would have been a crime not to capture it. I had the chance to get young girls to be motivated to spend time outside and get active. In coaching young girls softball, by the end of the season they also taught me. In the beginning, the girls had never even held a bat before so I assisted teaching the the game from square one. They were blank slates, however, each game they played with confidence and teamwork like they have been playing all their lives. At first they took losses left and right like champions till they were ones. Never did they lose motivation instead the losses acted as encouragement to win. When they finally did it was the sweetest victory.
I started off as a teacher but left a student. The young girls taught me the importance of persistence and failure. Many times people associate failure with walking down the wrong path. However, after my experience I see it completely different. Broken roads help set us on the right path and make arriving at the destination more worth it. As an artist and poet I value this lesson and feel that it will be essential for my growth.
