Grow Up

Not forgotten are the good times

Neither are the bad.

They lie in wait in the back of my mind.

Filled with happy and with sad.

I sit here, lost and confused.

No longer a child nor full-grown.

An innocent, disgusting middle,

Left to fend for oneself in the unknown.

To question, is to be stupid.

To wonder, is to be childish.

I sit here, lost and confused.

Left out here in the wildness.

Immune to horrors of the world,

without the ability to make change.

Powerless in a ruthless earth,

unable to break the chains.

Mother's lose their babies,

husbands kill their wives,

a bird falls from its nest,

and takes its own life.

Through all the bad,

there still lies light.

A horizon off the bay,

nearly out of sight.

For through all this bad,

you still must seek light.

Some birds may fall,

but others take flight.
