Grow Up to Glow Up

To glow up, is what I really want

To be able to have everyone’s attention and flaunt

Superficial tendencies and aspirations on the mind

But can I really leave all that behind?

Maybe…

If something true and genuine can save me

My imperfections I see now are what I dread

Can I really put those insecurities to bed?

Sure, I can

If I can just take a stand

And take a look at my current blessings, instead of stressing

On why I’m not as gorgeous as these other girls

They’re the reasons that I don’t show myself to the world...

No, scratch that, I know that’s not true

I’m just not sure about who I am or what I should do

But if I take a moment to self-reflect

See my achievements, talents, my goals

Maybe I can finally gain some self-respect

Get on the right track, a higher road

If I take a moment to self-reflect

Kill my insecurities and my ego

I’m sure that I can expect the best

And finally become my own hero

To glow up on the outside isn’t a bad thing to desire

But now I’m thinking my aspirations should be higher

Self-growth, positive goals, changing for the better

Yes, this a poem, but can be considered as a letter

To myself and the young girls who want to Glow Up

You can achieve that and more if you take the time to Grow Up
