Grow Old With Dignity

In our youth
we rush to be older
not giving a second thought
to what follows could be colder

Be patient
you'll be there before you know it
then when you are
you just might show it
too late for regrets

Reaching back for childhood dreams
to realize
it's been longer than it seems
you're now approaching the hill

No time to kill
is precious now
if GOD will
allow it

In a hurry to drink
smoke cigarettes don't think
rush to the club
under age just gimme some

Yes years are golden
much experience
under your shoulders
proves to be an asset

But better yet
a plethora of wisdom
answers to questions
on life's journey accomplished

Must pass it on
no reason
to keep it
a secret

Things not realized in our youth
getting older to tell the truth
is blessing
now look who's confessing

Time is short
you've arrive now
you're caught
you think

What's this
oh the aches and pains
that don't go away
like when you were younger

Don't worry
you'll get use to it
it's what we do
now it's happening to you

Welcome to the golden years
nothing to fear
just come here and take a nap
or something like that

Life is yours
no place to be
got no job
you're fancy free

No one to answer too
you're your own boss
retirement is sweet
if you prepared for the cost

A life well lived
having something to show
your contribution to society
ole golden days to behold

Take a look
write a book
tell your story
where others can find a hook

Ever learning
teaching until the last breath
no better time to get
having no regrets
