Growing Up

It wasn’t like climbing a ladder – You didn’t know where you were going. It wasn’t like racing – Everyone had a different finish line. It wasn’t like gazing at your watch – You had no clue how much time was left. It wasn’t like being in space – There was plenty of pressure. It wasn’t like wielding a sword – You had no control. It wasn’t like global warming – It was hard to stop it. It wasn’t like the changing of seasons – You didn’t expect it. Growing up wasn’t like a movie, It wasn’t like driving a car, And it really wasn’t like a blueprint. Growing was like a whirlpool, It was like falling in love, And it was certainly like a boxing match.
